Long-haired miniature dachshunds, raised at home with patience and love.

M&W is a small, family-run home dedicated to Mila and Winston and the little ones they bring into the world. Every puppy is born underfoot, socialized from day one, and held more than we’d like to admit.

Looking ahead

Upcoming Litters

We plan our litters thoughtfully and rarely — only when Mila is ready and the timing fits our family. If you’d love to bring an M&W puppy into your home down the road, the kindest thing you can do is reach out early.

Planned, not promised

We share litter plans when we’re confident in them. Until then, we keep expectations honest — nature has her own calendar.

A short, considered waitlist

We keep our list small so every family gets real attention. Joining doesn’t commit you to a puppy — it just means you’ll hear from us first.

Right fit over fast match

We’d rather take our time matching a puppy to the right family than rush placements. Expect a friendly conversation, not a transaction.

Interested?

Tell us a little about your home.

No pressure and no commitment — we’ll write back and share what we know about what’s ahead.

The two who started it all

Mom & Dad

Every puppy at M&W is loved into the world by Mila and Winston. They live in our home as family first — the breeding part is just a small chapter of who they are.

Mila, a piebald long-haired miniature dachshund, nursing her puppies Mila & her babies

The mom

Mila

Mila is a piebald long-haired miniature dachshund and a hidden dapple with a gentle, watchful nature. She is endlessly patient with her puppies and prefers to be wherever the family is — ideally on a blanket, ideally close enough to keep an eye on everyone.

  • Long-haired piebald hidden dapple
  • Calm & attentive
  • Devoted mother
Winston, a chocolate tan long-haired miniature dachshund, lounging on a soft blanket Winston, off the clock

The dad

Winston

Winston is our chocolate tan long-haired miniature dachshund — equal parts charmer and couch loaf. He’s the first to greet a guest and the last to leave a sunbeam. His easy temperament shines through in every litter he’s a part of.

  • Chocolate tan long-haired
  • Sweet & sociable
  • Devoted napper

Meet Mom & Dad

Our approach

Raised with love, underfoot and underhand.

Our puppies are not raised in a kennel or a separate room — they grow up in the middle of our daily life. They hear the dishwasher, the doorbell, kids’ voices, and footsteps on hardwood. By the time they go home with their families, the world is already familiar.

We keep things small on purpose. Small home. Small litters. Lots of one-on-one time. We’d rather know every puppy by their little personality than count them by the dozen.

  • 01

    Family raised

Our puppies are born and raised inside our home, with people around them from the very first day.

  • 02

    Early socialization

Gentle handling, new sounds, soft textures, and lots of cuddles. We introduce the world slowly and warmly.

  • 03

    Honest conversations

We tell you what we know and what we don’t. Owning a dachshund is a long, loving commitment — we want you to be ready.

  • 04

    Health tested parents

Our parents are Embark health tested, giving families added confidence in the care and planning behind each litter.

  • 05

    Lifelong support

Our puppies stay our puppies. We’re a text away long after they go home, for questions big and small.

Good things to know

Frequently asked

A few of the questions families ask most often. If yours isn’t here, just ask — we’re happy to talk.

Are your puppies AKC registered?

Yes. Mila and Winston are AKC registered miniature dachshunds, and their litters are AKC registered as well. We’re happy to talk through what paperwork is included when you reach out.

How do I join the waitlist?

Send us a short message through the contact form below, or reach out by email. Tell us a little about your home, what you’re hoping for in a puppy, and whether you’ve lived with a dachshund before. We’ll write back and walk you through what’s realistic from our upcoming litters.

What should I ask before reserving a puppy?

Ask anything — really. Common ones we like to talk through: what an average day looks like for the litter, how the puppies are socialized, what to expect in the first weeks at home, feeding and vet care, and what kind of ongoing support we offer. A good breeder should welcome questions, not deflect them.

Can we visit and meet the puppies?

We love meeting our families, but we keep visits limited and scheduled for the puppies’ health and stress. We’ll let you know when a visit is appropriate — usually after the puppies are a few weeks old — and we’ll share photos and short videos in the meantime.

How will I get updates on a puppy I’ve reserved?

Once you’re matched, we share regular photos, weight checks, and little personality notes as your puppy grows. You’re always welcome to ask for more — this part of the process is one of our favorites.

Where are you located, and do you ship?

We’re based in Birmingham, Alabama. We prefer in-person pickup so we can meet you and walk you through everything in person. For families further away, we’re happy to talk through travel options together.
